Destination WA appearance
We were approached by the local shire at the end of May to apply to be on an upcoming Destination WA segment aimed at showcasing exciting new attractions of inland Gingin. We couldn’t believe the timing, as we had scheduled to open next month after the show was to air this month. We applied and got selected. We were very excited but had a lot of work to do before our cellar was up to scratch for TV. Though it was a timely push for us to get the final pressing jobs done before opening. The lead up to the filming day was a little daunting. Though the weather ended up being perfect. Sunny and calm with no wind. Our very pregnant friend, Leah, generously helped arrange some gorgeous bouquets to decorate the cellar door. I had painted the final coat of varnish on our beautifully restored mid-century lounge. Evan mowed the lawn. We exchanged our grubby farm clothes for something a tad classier. Everything looked great. On the day of filming, we didn’t really know what to expect. Though once the film crew and presenter arrived, we were put at ease by their friendliness. They worked together like a well-oiled machine and wrapped it all up in about an hour. Drones were flown, cameras were swiftly arranged, lights were shone, and microphones hovered near. We nervously waited for the show to air a few weeks later. We watched it for the first time with our family. We were so grateful for being chosen for it and thought it beautifully showcased the winery and Limestone Café, both new small family run businesses in the area.
